It is commonly called as Behaya, Beshram, Sada Suhagan in Hindi, Mahananda, Gargil in Marathi, Kolmi phul or Dholakmari in Bengali, Thutu Kada in Telugu, Kattu Poovarasu, Neyveli kattamankku in Tamil, Neyveli katta in Malayalam. In some area it has different local names like in Madhypradesh it is called Tamesar, Karmi, Kanbayeri, in Rajasthan it is called Aak or Bilayati Aakda, Karmatta, Barganda in Chattishgarh, Nafhatvel , Akadia in Gujarat, Gulabasi or Gulbansa in Punjab, in Bihar it is called Ankahal, Latda, Kalmi Poudha, khacharlatee,Thetar etc. In Odisha we call it Amari.

It is known as Shrubby Morning Glory or Bush Morning Glory in English.
