Coral Vine has a lot of names in other languages
Coral Vine has a lot of names in English and many other European and Latin American languages. It is called Coralita, Coral Bells, Coral Creeper, Sandwich Island Creeper Chain of Love, Hearts On A Chain, Honolulu Creeper, Mexican Creeper, Bride's Tears, Queen's Jewels or Queen’s Wreath, Chinese Love Vine, Mexican Love Vine, Pink Vine, Confederate-vine, Cemetery Vine, St James’ flower, St Michael’s flower, Bee Bush and Mountain-Rose etc. in English. But because it is a native of Tropical America and probably came to India during the same time as when the AJCB Botanical Garden was started in Kolkata during mid-18th Century we hardly find its names in other vernacular languages of India and none in Sanskrit. However later some names developed in some languages and we know that it is called Anantalata in Bengali, Ice Cream Vel in Marathi, Kodi Rose or Koti Rosa in Tamil. In my state I asked some locals in Southern Odisha where I find it widely spread everywhere, and they told me that they call it Boondi Phool in Odia.
The Botanical name is Antigonon leptopus.
